AB Sparta, born and raised in West Africa, grew up in Bakoteh, Kombo North, where he was inspired by both traditional and international music. Hailing from the same village as the legendary Landing Kintiba, he developed a passion for music early on, starting at the age of 13 by writing lyrics, playing instruments, and attending live events.
In 2018, AB Sparta signed with NCS Channel TV, releasing his debut album, Year of Vybz, which earned him recognition and established his musical leadership within his community. Known for his positive, catchy, and linguistic style, he blends Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Grime with a unique flair.
During his time with NCS, AB Sparta won Best Music Video and collaborated with major Norfolk companies, such as Herbert Woods. Despite the challenges of the lockdown, which led to the closure of NCS, AB Sparta made a triumphant solo return, continuing to create music at its peak. Hardworking, spiritual, kind, and full of vibrant energy, he collaborates with movements like Rollas, TTN, 169, and Loners. With a bright future and a distinctive musical style, AB Sparta's legacy is set to endure.
Originating in West Africa in the 1960s, Afrobeats combines traditional Yoruba music with jazz, highlife, funk, and chanted vocals. Pioneered by Fela Kuti, it's characterized by complex rhythms, call-and-response vocals, and socially conscious lyrics.
